The Annual Report of Earnings gives the Social Security Administration information about your earnings and your work plans for the coming year.


The Annual Report of Earnings also helps us to make sure that we paid you the correct amount of benefits for the previous year. If you give us an estimate of your earnings during the year, we will send you an Annual Report Form at the end of the year.

If your report shows that we owe you money for the previous year, we will issue a payment.

If your report shows that we paid you too much, we will send you a letter before you have to pay us back.


The letter will tell you about the overpayment and what you can do if you think we are wrong.

Please note that the completed annual report of earnings must be sent to us no later than April 15 of the year following the year for which you are reporting.
