Lennon and Chamberlain accepted the challenge of humanizing the face of tuberculosis when they co-produced a multimedia training package for six international public health clients, including CDC, APHL and WHO. The goal was to teach microbiologists to perform a test for the presence of TB.

It has now been translated into English, Spanish, French and Russian, translation provided by the Language Department.

“In much of the world today, multimedia still means a VHS tape, slides and a booklet,” Chamberlain notes. The components, which include an audio cassette, are tightly integrated. “The audiotape is the video’s voice-over, the booklet is the script, and the slides are stills from the video,” says Lennon, a microbiologist herself.

The tape, shot in Mexico, displays high production values on a limited budget. Its painting-with-light approach and Photoshop-processed bumpers personalize a project of great “heart and meaning” to its co-producers.
